Abstract. In 2008 the first international conference on “educational data mining” took place in Montreal. Since then the field has grown and established itself with its annual international conference, its open access journal and its international association. In this talk I will begin with some considerations on big data in education. I will review the principal methods used in educational data mining, illustrate some of the tasks they solve and will present trends that I see emerging in the field.  Analysis of educational data on a routine basis to understand learning and teaching better and to improve them is not a reality yet. I will conclude with challenges on this way. Talk in French, slides in English.
